Lizzy is a very entertaining speaker with her forthright views always expressed with a great sense of humour. These were in evidence at the meeting where she gave an insight into being a cricket correspondent during last season where circumstances meant that she spent more time reporting off field events rather than the cricket itself. From the Ollie Robinson revelations during the First Test v New Zealand to the postponed test against India there were plenty of distractions to the joy of people in attendance at cricket throughout the country.
She talked through the events at Yorkshire and the long term effects it could have on cricket in the long term. Current events resulting in the delay in the publication of the fixtures for next season were also covered.
The meeting Chairman, Neil Swanwick, posed some questions to Lizzy before the break and afterwards in was the turn of the members who raised a wide range of topics and there were many.
One of the factors in assessing the popularity of a speaker is the number of questions asked and on this criteria CCLS were very pleased to have Lizzy back for her second visit. She is an ebullient, forthright speaker who is a real cricket enthusiast with a vast amount of knowledge about the game. Her cheerful and lively presentation style adds to her popularity as a speaker.
An excellent last meeting of 2021 enjoyed by all.
